If you are a real estate professional, being findable has never been more important than now as we see noticeable declines in print media advertising. Being omni present so people can find you starting with Google is more relevant than ever. It is amazing how Google has become a verb as well. I hear "Let's google that!" very regularly now...
Over the last few years, Google has become the 800 pound Gorrilla in the Search Engine market and you need to pay attention to your online presence and how easy it is for you to be findable.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a science that has matured over the years but it takes commitment to see results. Google and Bing recently announced that Facebook and Twitter content will be displayed in search results. Social media offers the ability for you to jump start your SEO and personal Findability campaign. Have you "googled" your name recently? If not, I would highly recommend that as it will give you an idea of where you are. As an example,
click here to see my results and note how many of the results on Page 1 are from Social media sites.
Organic Optimization (SEO) is like building equity in a home. It doesn't happen overnight but you build it over time by publishing good content and using some good SEO practices. A resource that I have liked is
SEOMOZ.org which provides a number of basic tools to see how your website/blog is doing.
Good luck being found online...
