Realty Tech Talk

Kris Berg, a Prudential real estate broker and blogger based in San Diego, shares insight into how blogging has worked for her, how she approaches it, and how she keeps her mind grounded in the fact that real estate is still a relationship business. A good discussion on how blogging and traditional marketing could go hand in hand.

I must admit that 6 years ago most of my co-workers thought I was the office "techie" - but today I am simply over-whelmed by much of what I encounter and blogging is one of those areas. I have promised myself that joining or starting a blog will be something I will achieve before 2009. But I sure could use some guidence and recommendation here.

Rajeev- Kris is one of my favorite bloggers, she has a wonderful sense of humor. She's no longer with Prudential though, about a month ago she and her husband started their own independent brokerage. I'm not sure if you get the daily headlines from Inman news, but there was a great article about this very question written by Teresa Boardman. You can read it here
Social media is a means to create relationships, in some case you don't even know you're doing so! I have a listing because the owner liked something I wrote on line and figured I was someone he would want to work with. Other than that I have no tangible evidence of how blogging effects my bottom line: he couldn't even remember how he found me or what it was that he read! It does take time and hard work before your labor will bear any fruit, and most people will give up on it before being able to do so.

Yes I did read the Teresa Boardman article today. The ability to use social media to expand your leads takes effort before it bears fruit. I also believe that most people do not know how to blog and need training to become good bloggers. Agents that have succeeded in the blog world have attributed part of their success to proper training.

Another successful blogger that I met at Inman is Kevin Tomlinson. His blog is http://www.kevintomlinson.com

Would love a training class to learn how to blog and really use these tools efficiently. Thank you for your great input in class today at Success 2009!

Suzette,

After today's presentation, I thought that there would be value to all our agents (and not just BD agents0 for a Social Media Marketing workshop and dive into more detail (we only had 45 minutes to cover the vast amount of info we had)

Kris Berg is a wonderful writer, and an even better person! Her blog San Diego Home Blog, is fabulous and should be required reading for anyone thinking about real estate blogging.
