First 360° Digital Camera - An option for do it yourself virtual tours?

Some of you may be aware of this already, but Giroptic (www.giroptic.com) announced in July 2008 the first ever (they claim - I haven't confirmed) 360° panoramic digital camera. Here is a quick summary from their site: It lets you effortlessly and affordably create and share your own full-motion interactive virtual tours of properties. One click use. Drag-and-drop interactivity on the web platform, maximum flexibility in terms of what you show. No photographic skills. No messing with the software.

Check out http://www.giroptic.com/popup/88b6c5d7dc15_hotel-van-der-cruysse-de... that was produced through this camera. Quite impressive!

I am not aware of anyone using it but would be interesting to see if this a viable option. This post was more of an FYI than anything else.

I checked out this product and it is impressive and certainly seems to do the job. The technology is patented so it will be interesting to watch the cost overtime. Seems a bit pricey for agents without high units.

Ugh, makes me dizzy :-)lol. Seriously, I really dislike 360 virtual tours. My objections are the "fish eye" distortions, not the best representation of the property or the Seller and there are better marketing alternatives. I see my job as showing the property to it's best advantage and highlighting the most attractive features.

I think it's retailing around $1000 so out of budget for many agents. I saw the company present at Inman's Connect. I believe the product will be able to give room dimensions as well. So perhaps there's a possible floor plan feature in the works. I think the product offered by floorplanonline is great and less "effort" from the agent's point of view.
