Any opinions about Active Rain?

That is a pretty general question. However, having a presence on active rain (profile, blog etc) can only help your business. Just with any Social media, you will need to contribute, engage in conversations to gain trust. I know a few agents that have blogs through active rain that are quite popular.

You can look at Active Rain as the "LinkedIn" for Real Estate. A Social networking site dedicated to Real estate professionals. There are other RE social networking sites (Zolve, Trulia voices etc.) but none are as popular as Active Rain.

Active Rain was brought to my attention today. Everyday there is another invitation to join another social networking site. The big problem is how do you figure out which are more beneficial. When the market gets hot again (hope soon), I can see it will be hard finding the time to keep up with the social networks. I will check out the others you mentioned. Thanks again for your explanations.

Joelyn,
Active Rain is a great source of information in my view. It is also a great way to get "google juice." Which means that what you post on Active Rain tends to rank very well in Google. Customers don't tend to comment in Active Rain, but they definitely visit. So Active Rain is like any other tool out there: it depends on how you use it and what your goals are from the site. Best of luck figuring out what's best for you!

Hi Joelyn - I would second Matt's recommendation about Active Rain. I was slow to pick up on the benefits. If you are interested in learning more about Blogging, this is a great place to learn. And it's free. There are so many caring Realtors and others who are willing to help you with your questions. Every Realtor really should at least be listed in Active Rain. They recently developed www.Localism.com for featuring neighborhoods and communities. Localism is supported by Google which is how a website or Blog gets the benefit of posts syndicated to Localism. The down side of Active Rain is that communication is with other Realtors and they're not our market. So it's a little weak for ROI. I know from my stats that the public does read the posts, they just don't comment. It's a little intimidating. Good luck. If you want to chat about it give me a buzz. If you want to sign up, you can use my link :Active Rain Sign Up

Thanks Judy,
I am going to go back and go thru the site again. I did register but haven't used it as yet.
I'll also check out Localism.
